No time or money seems to be life's battle cry lately as we approach this parenting endeavor with private school teachers, day care providers, pediatricians, coaches, pastor, and cant forget Sensay. All of which are a blessing but only one , the pastor is almost entirely free.
We met this amazingly refreshing grandmother ,Milly , today who lives across the street from our kids private school which is her eldest grandsons school. She's A retired educator. Her life is her grand kids joyfully setting up her house "the homework room" for her grandchildren similar to their set up at home. She mentioned she goes to the school daily to check on her grandson and stays informed of the latest updates of the school to report back to her daughter in what's happening throughout the day.
She shared with me some wisdom that served as affirmation that we are doing the right things. She said that there are two things that help a child be successful in education and that's time with family and working with the child daily a little at a time reading and doing homework to reinforce what's being taught. If you refrain from using those video games constantly she said and actually read with your children and spend those thirty minutes
a day reinforcing what's taught they will be successful.
I told her often times I buy things we can play outside together like racketball, bad mitten, dollar store ball catcher things. They love to be outside, look forward to it even. I just want to be connected to know what they may need and whats on their minds. When I spend time with them I spend time with their friends and even at six and four they have a lot to say.
God bless them they are worth every penny or lack there of:)
